Apex provides opportunity for young men and women to be involved in community service activities. Apex has been involved in numerous community service works and fund-raising projects over the years for the less privileged through our food distribution program.

Toa Payoh Food Distribution Program

Since 2008, Apexians have been distributing food items to 60 recipients every fortnight Saturday at Blk 170 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh.

From its humble beginnings at Kampong Glam till present day Toa Payoh, the food distribution program aims to look after its recipients daily basic needs and also reassure them that the community do care about them in their golden years.

Food items distributed are planned to ensure that our recipients will have a balanced diet. Due to lack of refrigeration in some homes, we do not give out raw items.

What's in a typical Toa Payoh FD grocery bag:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Rice/Vermicelli/Biscuits
  • Eggs
  • Bread

From time to time, Apex volunteers visits recipients' home to see if they require any special needs. Your kind support to this program is much needed to ensure we can continue providing to the needy. Contributions in cash and kind is much appreciated!

Outings and Festive Projects

The elderly often feels lonely and this can be detrimental to their health. Our club organizes outings when possible to places of interest and farms so the elderly may enjoy the sunshine.

We also gather volunteers to visit them on CNY day as well as have special projects during the festive seasons so they too may celebrate and experience the festive joy!

Social activity also allows volunteers to spend personal time and  form a close bond/relationship with our recipients. This is important to ensure the objective of volunteering for community service is met.

It also teaches us to appreciate the simple joys in life.

How You Can Help

1) Sponsorship of items or Adopt-a-week

If you are keen to "adopt" the food distribution for any of the coming weeks, contact us! Your contribution will go a long way in helping the less-privileged and ensure there are no intermittent disruptions to the distribution. All contributions will go to the Toa Payoh Food Distribution program.

Please inform our Service Director of items you would like to sponsor so we may make arrangements if needed. You may choose to self purchase the items or we can do so for you from our regular vendor. Kindly note that food items should be appropriate for elderly consumption.

Apexians are ordinary people. VERY ORDINARY PEOPLE who get together to exchange views and ideas to help the less fortunate, the aged and the sick in our community. Joining Apex means you can share in ideals and activities aimed at helping those in the community, less fortunate than yourself.

At the same time, you will be making new friends and developing your own leadership potential. There are many ways to reach out to the community in need; and Apex never tire in thinking of ways to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
